Chapter 466: Tearing Up The Old Covenant
Intricate golden patterns intertwined when the Godslaying Banner emerged. The Book of Ages remained fearless and responded calmly to what was happening. It evaded it initially but then it started to lightly touch those golden grids.
“That’s all there is to it. The banner is severely damaged, and it can only slay spirit. As a bearer, it can’t even damage my book essence. You’d better give up.” It spoke indifferently, as its pages turned and emitted a radiant glow. It had actually resisted the Godslaying Banner!
It then continued saying, “Blade Demon, educate him on how to be a man and correct his path in life. Blade Demon, I once had high hopes for you, but you were unfortunately too ambitious back then. After entering the realm of Wanderer level, you insisted on undergoing a spiritual rebirth. You wanted to turn back and find the so-called twelfth stage to make up for past regrets, but you perished prematurely. Some things shouldn’t be touched too early. The so-called spiritual rebirth of Fang Yuzhu should also have begun after becoming a powerful being.”
Upon hearing this, Wang Xuan’s expression changed. This Blade Demon was quite remarkable.
He had reached the realm of Wanderer level but then wanted to rediscover the twelfth stage? That’s quite audacious.
“All the ruthless ones died like that. Do you want me to follow the same path? It’s not happening!” Wang Xuan spoke at the right time.
While the Book of Ages remained silent, the Blade Demon rushed forward and slashed down. In the gleam of the blade, nine immortal birds that were carrying boundless transcendent power flew out and were attacking Wang Xuan. It was a moving sight.
Divine birds emerged under a single strike as if summoning the bloodline of powerful beings to join the battle! Wang Xuan used the Ascendent Fist in his left hand and the Godslaying Banner in his right. He then launched an attack simultaneously
The Book of Ages spoke, “The banner possesses the power of a transcendent treasure, but the Blade Demon originates from me. His long knife is also a part of my body, it’s no less inferior to a transcendent treasure. Blade Demon, unleash your full strength and fight him to the death!”
It could hatch transcendent treasures as a bearer of the Old Covenant. There were no major issues as the demonic blade it manifested was indeed a transcendent treasure.
Bang!
The golden patterns covered the nine immortal birds and strangled them to death underneath the banner’s surface! However, the blade still descended and it fiercely collided with the Godslaying Banner. The collision created a terrifying surge of energy and thunderous roars.
Wang Xuan didn’t want to continue battling him head-on. It was pointless. He had absolute confidence in himself as he had already stepped onto the path of the eleventh stage. Right now, he only wanted to seize the Book of Ages. He only wanted to eliminate the mastermind and send back the spiritual light of Wu Yin.
So, he would pay attention to the Book of Ages from time to time. He would either annoy it with the enlarged Godslaying Banner or poke it a few times with the iron awl. The Book of Ages found him annoying. He kept provoking it repeatedly and it couldn’t retaliate against him which made it very unhappy. In its mind, it was thinking that this young man was clueless and didn’t understand the situation.
“You’re so picky and disdainfulI although I prepared the path to the heavens for you. Why do you seek your own demise and constantly provoke me? Is it amusing?” said the book.
“It’s amusing. I will stop only after you send Wu Yin away,” Wang Xuan said. In reality, he was trying to deceive the Book of Ages. He feared using the furnace lid as he was afraid he might miss and let it escape. So, he had been provoking it with the banner and iron awl and he had occasionally seized the opportunity to attack it.
Splat!
Wang Xuan paid the price for it. The Blade Demon was indeed formidable. The Golden Crow and the True Dragon contented with each other as soon as the blade descended. The two terrifying beings soared and nearly tore Wang Xuan apart.
It left dreadful bloodstains on him and had almost severed him! Of course, he also left a shallow yet noticeable puncture wound in the Blade Demon’s forehead. His forehead was nearly pierced through completely!
“Is it possible or not? Give me a clear answer. I won’t compromise with you under your coercion. I won’t follow the path you’ve arranged!” said Wang Xuan. He wanted to send Wu Yin away first because he was preparing for a major confrontation. He feared there would be an accident.
“Will you accept the path of correction if I send her away?” the Book of Ages asked.
“I’m unable to understand it for the moment, forget it. I’ll collect it first!” said Wang Xuan. After recovering the loose pages, he immediately entered the Life Soil, then swiftly dashed towards the Solidarity Void.
He arrived near the silver pool and stood in front of the Immortal Tea Tree. Before long, a group of avatars emerged like ghosts. They surrounded and fixed their gazes on him. This group of avatars would definitely have rebelled if it weren’t for their fear of the lid in his hand. It had been a long time since they had seen him. Whether it was fake Old Zhang or the fake Demon Lord, both were unruly and sought to replace him.
“Everyone, come here. I’ll give each of you an ancient scripture to contemplate on. What’s mine is yours, and what’s yours is mine. We’ll use these scriptures to refine transcendent treasures when we merge in the future!”
Wang Xuan distributed the scriptures like he was distributing flyers. He gave each person two sheets. He didn’t hide anything from them, informing them of the powerful aspects and encouraging them to study and contemplate. Just like that, he had dismembered the Book of Ages!
There were still a few pages left that were roaring, resentful, murmuring, and tossing about. Wang Xuan still ignored them, he then combined them with the page that recorded the technique for mental illness patients. He sealed them together in a meteorite cave he had excavated himself, which contained a Cactus Heavenly Herb.
“What rubbish scripture is this? It’s a damn mental illness patient. Keep it separated from me!” voices came from the remaining pages that emitted light. They were refusing to be with the page that recorded the mental illness scripture. Wang Xuan could never fulfill its wish. He used the iron awl to nail down these remaining pages and pressed the yellowed page that recorded the mental illness technique onto the Book of Ages.
“I don’t want to be with this mental illness patient!” the voice echoed.
However, Wang Xuan disregarded it. He left the place and cultivated in the Void to heal his injuries. Unfortunately, he still couldn’t step into the Twelfth Stage. Shortly after, he embarked on his journey home. He feared there were unexpected changes in the outside world.
Although he was unable to break through the uncharted Twelfth Stage, he was able to return to his peak with his injuries healed through the leaf of the Heavenly Herb that was close to the truth. He also had the nourishment of tea fruits. He felt that he couldn’t rely on himself to slowly recuperate anymore as the outside world was chaotic. It was better to return to his strongest state as soon as possible.
“One of the highest rewards, the bearer of the Old Covenant, is now in my hands. Is there any need to continue?” Wang Xuan pondered. This place was too chaotic, it was filled with conspiracies and bloodshed. Even strong individuals might lose their lives. It wasn’t a good place. Perhaps it was time to leave.
However, he believed that it shouldn’t be done abruptly but naturally. After all, one of the highest rewards had suddenly disappeared. Everyone would definitely go mad searching for it after they came to their senses. He just didn’t want to be involved.
“It’s not necessarily going to be investigated. After all, the Book of Ages is a free agent that roams around various places. It has said itself that no one can command it. It’s not a big deal even if it disappears for a while. Who knows where it will go.” After some thought, he felt completely at ease.
“Immortal Umbrella!” Someone shouted, as if it had been born and was about to be obtained by someone.
Wang Xuan ignored it. He had a sense of self-awareness now. He would surely be killed if he dared to enter the Great Barrier to compete for it! He appeared in the extinguished Land of the Departed and was strolling leisurely. He was waiting for the time to come, to be guided away. He didn’t have to wait long. Light and rain pervaded, and he returned to the spaceship. He was feeling great!
“After three rounds of selection, the Cross-domain War officially begins. In the battlefield, there are six huge palaces, each containing bearer of the Old Covenant and semi-mature treasures. These items are not all placed within the Great Barrier. Those with destiny in the mortal world can go and seize them!” In the cosmic void, such a voice was heard within the iron fortress.
It was giving specific information. The six palaces were named Mortal Palace, Wanderer Palace, Life Essence Palace, Ascension Palace, Celestial Veil Palace, and Dao Shielding Palace.
Qing Mu’s expression changed. He was worried about Wang Xuan and said, “Is this madness? How can there be no stoppage, requiring one to directly enter the war after three rounds of qualification matches? Where’s the time for resting?”
“Wang Xuan, how are you feeling now?” Zhao Qinghan was also worried about his condition. Not long ago, he had fought several battles in succession and the hidden wounds on his body were not light.
Wu Yin handed him a cup of life essence drink and said, “Don’t force yourself. Just withdraw if it’s not working out.”
“It’s fine. I’ve recovered.” Wang Xuan smiled, reassuring them. He didn’t rush to leave but wanted to go and take a look after hearing the names of the six palaces.
A moment later, he was teleported to a decaying Great Barrier that emitted a faint light! In the universe, in outer space, all the spaceships were watching and capturing the scenes there. They were all recording it. Qing Mu and their spaceship were naturally capturing the vast battlefield. Soon, Qing Mu’s expression changed as he saw a familiar figure.
He exclaimed, “Whoa, who’s that? There’s a short-haired rogue pretending to be my master. Look, it does resemble him somewhat. In the vast universe, it’s understandable to encounter people with similar appearances. But this sneaky and cunning look of his is nowhere near as good as my master’s. I hope he runs into Wang Xuan and gets a good beating. It’s not good to imitate someone like my master!”
