When one day a tiny little squirt appeared to join our caravan, I wasn’t surprised when Zilla announced, “Shard and I conjoined our essence to create an offspring.” And thus did Sharla join our group.
She wasn’t the only new baby. More than a few bellies rounded on board, including mine, meaning Metatron started treating me like a fragile feather made of glass. I didn’t mind. Mostly. I only chafed when we visited the planet of winds, a place of towering aeries and no roads, not meant for those with legs. He left me aboard because of my fragile state.
Imagine Tron’s surprise when Zilla beamed me to join him with my splendid set of wings. Great big fluffy ones. A good thing I’d been practicing in secret on board to surprise him. When I arrived in front of him, I didn’t immediately plummet, and once he got over his shock, we flew.
Me and my angel, forever on wings of love.

Meanwhile, several galaxies and a blackhole away…
Tamara stood in the crook of Zakai’s arm as they stared out through the screen Atlantis provided. A planet loomed, getting larger as they neared.
Despite it not being necessary, Noah pointed. “Behold, Terranovum.” A Latin-based name that basically stood for new Earth, a second chance for humanity to start over without the politics and ugliness of the past. To that end, everyone aboard, with the exception of Tamara, Zakai, and Noah, had their memories washed clean of Earth.
They would begin as equals on Terranovum, with none of the prejudice or hate, watched over by their guardian angel, theologian, and the symbiotic ark.
“Are you sure you don’t want us to go back to find your brothers?” she asked. “Find out what happened?” They’d gone dark the moment they left, not wanting to leave a trail Heaven or Hell could follow.
Zakai’s free hand crossed his body to cup the head of the child sleeping against her shoulder. “I have everything I need right here.”
And it turned out to be enough. Humanity flourished on Terranovum, as did the angel who decided to settle among them with his wife and child.
The ark remained in space, orbiting the planet, a moon in the sky as far as the citizens on the surface were concerned. A guardian who wouldn’t fail to protect, not with Noah and Atlantis keeping watch. They had a most important task when it came to tending the flock. After all, the goddess had finally returned, and she would need a source of power. To her, they prayed,
Our mother, who freed us from Heaven, hallowed be thy name.
To our kingdom, please come,
Your will has been done,
And the souls we tend are yours for the taking.
