“Okay, actually, it’s fine to take some time. Xie Xuanchen can use this time period to recover and be in the best state for treatment.” Mu Mingtang breathed a sigh of relief.
To be fair, Mu Mingtang was terrified when she heard the little Taosit’s words. ‘What is this treatment? Deliberately inducing his illness… lock him in a small room alone to endure the pain… Oh, God… It’s good he can relax for a while before starting treatments.’
However, Xie Xuanchen had different thoughts as he already had what little Taoist needed to start his treatments. “I have the Wuyufei that you need.”
“What?”
“I have Wuyufei,” Xie Xuanchen answered. “There is no need to wait, so let’s start today.”
Hearing Xie Xuanchen’s words, Mu Mingtang recalled the incident of accidentally discovering an incense in the cupboard. Before they had put it back in the cupboard, they had scraped a lot of incense out of it. Since Wuyufei was used in that incense in a small quantity, using that was indeed a good choice that met little Taoists’s requirements.
Mu Mingtang wanted to say something but held back and just looked at Xie Xuanchen worriedly. Xie Xuanchen had always followed her advice before, but this time he was resolute.
The little Taoist, who didn’t know about Mu Mingtang’s mental states, happily raised his eyebrows and said, “It turns out that you already have it, that is great! Anyway, the amount needed in the initial stage is small, so we can use yours to deal with it first, and after the first observation we can increase the dose later.”
Although the little Taosit was happily talking about the treatment, Mu Mingtang was not in a mood to be happy with him because deep down she was afraid. Xie Xuanchen, who detected Mu Mingtang’s worry, held her hand tightly to convey that he was fine.
Then Xie Xuanchen looked toward the little Taoist: “You don’t have to worry about money and the place. When can we start?”
“I will need to prepare two sets of medicine. It will take about two days to prepare them. Let’s start the treatment once it is done.”
Xie Xuanchen nodded, and fixed the appointment with a few words: “Okay, at the end of Haishi the next day, Qingtang in Huxin Town.”
[TL Notes: A day and night were split into 12 time periods in ancient China, each of which was equal to two hours in modern time. They also assigned a zodiac sign to each time period, calling it Chinese zodiac time.
Haishi – Pigs are sleeping – is the ending hour from 9 to 11 p.m in a day.]
The little Taoist understood why Xu Xuanchen had chosen that time, and nodded. After settling everything, Xie Xuanchen and Mu Mingtang got up and left.
Outside, the wind was rustling, and mist had started to form in the area, as though it were about to rain. Both of them stayed silent as they strolled side by side. “I didn’t notice earlier, but where did the black iron chain go?” Xie Xuanchen questioned after a while.
Mu Mingtang was startled, and suddenly looked up at him: “What do you want to do with it?”
“I’m afraid of being unable to control myself and accidently hurting you.” Xie Xuanchen replied, “Anyway, it’s best to lock my hands to avoid casualties. You know how to open them without keys, so it will be fine.”
Since Xie Xuanchen had woken up from his slumber, the emperor sent another person to the palace, and the heavy black iron chains had disappeared. If Xie Xuanchen hadn’t mentioned it, Mu Mingtang would have also forgotten about it.
She never noticed where the black iron chain went.
