“Nothing you need to worry about, maybe my brother, but that’s for a different day.”

“It was a nice ceremony for the most part.” She shrugs.

“Yeah,” I clear my throat not used to being sweet to anyone, “Is this something you’d want?” I ask tentatively.

“Something I’d want?” Her eyebrows hitch up as she pulls away from me slightly to look at my face. “Are you asking me if I want to get married?”

“I’m asking you if you want a wedding?”

“I wouldn’t say no, but only if that’s something you want too.” I can see the hopefulness in her face. She’s been waiting patiently for me to make things official between us. No longer is she the woman that I’ve been paid to kill. Now it’s her who holds my life in her hands.

“Yeah, we can set something like this up. I doubt as many people would show up though.” I tilt my head to the side and chuckle when I see her face lighten up with a cheek-splitting grin.

“Did you just ask me to marry you, Vittore?”

“You’re already mine; it makes sense to let the world know too.” I lean forward and kiss her.

“The two of you make me want to hurl,” Diego complains as he walks by us, and I pull away from Stella, a smile still plastered on my face. I wish him the best in finding something like I’ve found, but with him spending all of his time at his sex club, I doubt he’ll ever find a chance. Yet who knows, all of my time was spent running down contracts and killing people for my family, and I was still able to find a woman who completes me.

Stella laughs and snuggles in closer to my side. I let my eyes scan the small crowd that’s now dwindling down. My father is shaking hands and congratulating people, no doubt trying to put everyone’s mind at ease.

Before, I’d never think him naive in any sense, but now with Christine’s extra information, I’m thinking maybe Babbo isn’t as fallible as I’d always thought him to be. It feels like he’s one step away from falling into his grave, and I’ve got no choice but to think it’s going to be one of the people in the room to give him that final push.

All I know is that my family is about to change rapidly, and I have to be ready for it when it does.

A deep buzzing sensation draws my attention away from the crowd as I pull my phone out of my pocket. A new contract has popped up on the grid. I don’t need to take it, but it’s simple enough; it’ll ensure that I keep my skills up to date. Just like every other activity, if I don’t use it, I’ll lose it.

“You have to leave soon?” Stella looks up at me, and I see her happiness diminish a bit.

“Soon, but not right now.” I focus on her again, slipping my phone back into my pocket.

“You’ll come back to me though?”

“Always,” I respond, kissing her again. This is just another plus to having her in my life. I can handle my business, but nothing will ever top the feeling I get coming home to my woman and my child.

It’s an added incentive.

“Now that it’s over, you think we have a little time for ourselves?” she whispers, her body humming with anticipation. Xander and Mel missed out on the wedding to care for their newborn and graciously offered to watch Chance as well. I’ve got all the time in the world to play with my Stella.

“If you promise to be my good girl, I think we can work that out.” I reach down and squeeze her backside hard, letting her know that I’m not talking about playing sweet.

“And what happens if I’m not?” She asks, tempting me even further.

“I’ll just have to make you.”

“I’m ready for whatever you’ve got, Vitto. So fucking ready,” she reaches down and grabs hold of my cock through my pants.

Today may be about Giancarlo and his new bride, but my woman needs me, and I’ll be damned if I deny her. It’s time to get out of here. “You’re going to wish you never said that, you’ll need to be punished,” I growl in her ear.

“As long as it’s you punishing me, I’ll never regret it, Vitto. Now take me home and show me who I belong to.”

With dangerous lust coursing through my blood, I grab hold of her hand and speed walk back to my car, not even bothering to say my farewells to anyone at the party. Babbo will be disappointed, but seeing as I’ve been disappointing him all of my life, I couldn’t care less about what he feels about me now. His approval means absolute shit to me. I’ve already found my purpose in Stella; now it’s time for me to prove it to her once again.

Hard, fast, and dangerous, just the way I like it.
